Two persons, including a patient, died after an 108 ambulance rammed a bus parked by the side of the road at Athur on the Kancheepuram-Chengalpattu Road during the early hours of Friday.

Kanniammal, 65, of Kancheepuram, complained of chest pain late on Thursday and her family called the State-run ambulance service. The vehicle collided with a parked bus on the way to the Chengalpattu Government hospital, said police.

In the impact Kanniammal and Jayakumar, the driver, died on the spot. Jayakumar’s assistant Dinakaran and Kanniammal’s relatives sustained injuries.

The Kancheepuram Taluk police have sent the bodies for post-mortem. Investigation is on.
