The case was registered on April 11, 2014 at the Grand Bazaar Police Station on the complaint of Vidya Ramkumar, chairperson of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) who stumbled upon the sex racket when two minor girls aged 14 and 16 years sought shelter and support after being subjected to sexual abuse.

At the time of counselling, the victims disclosed that two other minor girls took them to K. Pushpa.
