Centac to hold grievance redressal meeting today

In view of complaints from candidates that private medical institutions in Puducherry are demanding higher fees and denying admissions, the Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) on Thursday has called for a grievance redressal meeting on Friday.

Centac Coordinator Rudra Goud in a statement, said that an open house grievance redressal will be held in the chamber of Secretary (Health), Chief Secretariat, at 4.30 p.m. “The Centac sponsored candidates having problems related to PG admission can attend the hearing to redress their grievances,” he said.

The Pondicherry State Students and Parents Welfare Association had written a letter addressed to the Health Secretary, stating that Centac NEET PG 2018 counselling was held online and a total of 98 students (63 government quota and 35 management quota) were admitted to the three self-financing private medical colleges in the Union Territory as on May 3, 2018.

“The candidates who were admitted through Centac and who have paid the fees online have not been issued admission letter by the respective colleges. All the three self-financing private medical colleges have failed to issue admission letters or acknowledgement of reporting to the colleges even after collecting the original certificates from a few students. They are also demanding exorbitant fee under the guise of hostel fee or academic fee or laboratory fee. In this process, they have failed to honour the Government Order for fixation of fee and have subjected the meritorious students to unnecessary turmoil,” said V. Bala, president of the association.
