Unknown persons broke open the window of a house in Ragavendra Nagar, Reddiarpalayam and decamped with silver articles and Rs. 50,000 in cash.
Police sources said Rajendran of Reddiarpalayam, who was running a hardware unit at Cuddalore, resided along with his family in Ragavendra Nagar.
The family which was asleep when the burglary took place woke up to a shock when they saw the grille window of pooja room broken open.
Rajendran said that silver articles weighing a kilo and cash Rs. .50,000 kept in the bureau had gone missing. He alleged that somebody who closely monitored his movement could have committed the theft.
Rajendran had lodged a complaint last month with police stating that he had lost his cash bag containing Rs.4.lakh. The money was stolen from his car as he went to rectify a flat tyre.
Miscreants also showed similar handiwork in the house of Rajendran’s neighbour Alagesan.
Adopting the same modus operandi, the miscreants entered the house removing the grille of a window and broke open an almirah.
Finding no money in it, the intruders took away Rs.300 kept inside the Bible on a table.
Reddiarpalayam registered the case and conducted investigation.
Fingerprints were lifted and a sniffer dog was deployed in the investigation.
