Burglars broke into the Sri Sakthivel Paramananda Siddhar Temple at Mudaliarpet and decamped with the offerings in the hundial and brass lamps worth Rs. 35,000. When the priest came to the temple to conduct regular poojas on Saturday morning he found the hundial broken.

Police sources said the cash stolen from the hundial was estimated to be close to Rs.10,000. The burglars had also made away with two brass lamps. Finger print experts were pressed into service. A case has been registered and further investigations are on. — Staff Reporter
