A fishing boat ran aground on Sunday evening near the lighthouse close to Vambakeerapalayam following rough sea conditions.

Four fishermen, Vellavan, Bharati, Selvam and Dhandapani were on board. Two of them, Selvam and Dhandapani, sustained minor injuries as the choppy waves forced the fishermen to abandon the boat and swim ashore.

The boat belonged to Kangayan, president of the Puducherry boat owners association.

A complaint has been filed at the Odiansalai police station.
