Even as confusion in National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Puducherry continues, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to launch its campaign for the All India N.R. Congress (AINRC) nominee, R. Radhakrishnan, on Wednesday.

The BJP has readied three vehicles with minimum facilitates to undertake intensive campaign in all 23 Assembly segments of the Puducherry region. The party high command has also given its green signal to launch the campaign.

The move is being viewed as an attempt to bring all other constituents of the NDA to support Mr. Radhakrishnan.

M. Visweswaran, president of the BJP’s Puducherry unit, told The Hindu that the party has been taking steps to solve the issue between the AINRC and the PMK over the Puducherry seat in the NDA. The issue has been taken to the notice of the BJP’s top leadership too. The PMK has been told not to insist on the Puducherry seat as it has been allotted to the AINRC.

Stating that there would be no change in party’s stand, Mr. Visweswaran said the BJP would start its campaign on Wednesday seeking votes for the AINRC candidate. Frontline leaders of the party have been designated for carrying out the campaign. It would highlight the failure of the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance government at the Centre in many aspects of governance.

Mr. Visweswaran said that Union Minister V. Narayanasamy had failed to use his position in the Prime Minister’s Office to fulfil the expectations of people who voted him to Parliament. He had not fulfilled most of the promises given to people. The BJP would list his failures during its campaign.

Meanwhile, R.K.R. Anantharaman, who is the candidate announced by the PMK for the Puducherry constituency, maintained that the PMK would not withdraw from the race. He continues to conduct Assembly segment-wise meeting of PMK cadre.
