Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi has sparked a controversy after she tweeted a picture of a crow with a caption “crow yoga.”
In her tweet, she said: “A member of the media asked me ‘Is dharna also a yoga?’ I said, ‘Yes it is. It depends on the purpose for which u sit... what kind of ‘Asanas’ you perform and the ‘sound’ u create?...”
Her tweet evoked instant reaction on online media with some of them terming it as “racial” in tone and an apparent reference to the Chief Minister’s complexion.
“I will not react to deplorable comments,” the Chief Minister said when reporters sought his reaction. However, Parliamentary Secretary to the Chief Minister K. Lakshminarayanan said, “Ms. Bedi has shown her true colour. She seems to be a votary of apartheid. Her racial comment should be condemned,” he said.
DMK Rajya Sabha member M.K. Kanimozhi has sought an apology from the Lt. Governor for her comment.
“Must apologise for her arrogant and racist comment on the Chief Minister. Her Klansman colours are coming out,” she said in a tweet.
The Lt. Governor and the Chief Minister have been engaged in a turf-war for the past two-and-a-half years.
