PUDUCHERRY The AIADMK has called upon Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi to tender an open apology to the people of Tamil Nadu for her recent remarks on water crisis in Chennai.

AIADMK Legislature party leader A. Anbalagan told reporters here on Friday that Ms. Bedi had defamed the people of Tamil Nadu and passed objectionable remarks against the State government. Instead of apologising to the people of Tamil Nadu for her harsh remarks, she preferred to convey her regret to the Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.

‘Not invited’

Referring to the State Planning Board meeting convened by the Lt. Governor, he said he was an MLA but was not invited for the meeting. He wanted Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy to explain how he could attend the meeting when the Opposition party MLAs were not invited by Ms. Bedi.

“Since our party has been up in arms against the Lt. Governor for her comments on the people of Tamil Nadu, she has ignored us in extending the invitation to attend the meeting,” he charged.
