Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi, who completes 1,000 days in office on Friday, has stated that all decisions taken during her term were in the larger interest of Puducherry and would be the case in future too.

In a message to the media, Ms. Bedi, who assumed office on Mary 29, 2016, said, “Not knowing Tamil has been a handicap for me or else I would have directly addressed you several times more”.

She explained this as a reason why “whenever I did they were short conversations with the help of officers translating for me.”

“Yet we kept the dialogue going. Through all possible means including the social media,” she said.

While expressing gratitude to those who were supportive, she was thankful to “those who did not think I was worthy of this responsibility. I regret any inconvenience I caused to them. I wish them well as they are important for the well-being of Puducherry.”

The Raj Nivas will mark the Lt. Governor’s completion of 1,000 days in office with several events starting at 5 p.m. on Friday.

The 11th Raj Nivas Lecture Series will feature a talk on creative leadership by Dr MS Rao, author.

Also scheduled are the release of 1000 days, Against Odds, Despite Odds , a compilation of Team Raj Nivas work during her term thus far, opening of a week-long photo exhibition open to the public and release of a booklet of good practices reflective of the journey.
