The first-ever Auroville Art Camp features artists and art students from across the country and Auroville.

The Art Camp focuses on the artists collaborating with and working on a specific theme — “A new world is possible” — taken from The Mother’s writings.

This broad theme can be explored in different ways outside cultural and/or knowledge differences.

During the week-long camp, which began on March 16, the artists will produce one art piece and participate in a number of public art events.

Interactions with the community are being held in the evenings, a press note from Auroville Art Camp team said.

Closing exhibition

The camp will close with an exhibition of all the artworks done at Centre d’art Citadines, starting on Saturday at 5 p.m. and will go on for two weeks.

As part of the educational component of the project, five students from Aurovile and outside (above 18) have been chosen to participate in this art camp and festival.

The highlights include the artists creating an art installation with 200 tiles from the Matrimandir, exhibition of works at the Tibetan Pavilion and performance of plays on the theme of the event.
