With the All India NR Congress (AINRC) Government entering its fifth year on Saturday, its cadres and leaders will deliberate on ways to return to power under the party founder and Chief Minister N. Rangasamy in the Assembly elections in 2015.
Breaking away from Congress, Mr. Rangasamy launched AINRC in 2011. Within three months of launch, the party bagged 15 of the 30 seats and independent MLA V.M.C. Sivakumar supported the AINRC. On May 15, Mr. Rangasamy was elected to become Chief Minister by MLAs and he assumed office the very next day.
In the last Lok Sabha elections, the party candidate R. Radhakrishnan emerged victorious defeating Congress senior leader V.Narayanasamy. Later, the AINRC increased its strength by nominating V. Bhalan and N.S. Jayabalan as MLAs.
Mr. Bhalan, MLA and AINRC general secretary said AINRC brought changes in the Union Territory. He felt that all party men should extend wholehearted support to welfare schemes announced by Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy during the budget in the interest of people of Union Territory.
While Chief Minister Mr. Rangasamy has been fighting for economic freedom, he said frontal organisations of the party should conduct workshops on the need of obtaining Statehood status.
