AIADMK’s Puducherry unit on Thursday wanted the government to ensure that the Right to Education Act was enforced without delay in the Union Territory.

Talking to reporters, Deputy leader of the AIADMK`s legislature wing A. Anbalagan hit out at government higher secondary schools, saying unless parents or students apply for transfer certificates to shift from the respective school, school authorities have no justification to issue TCs to all students at the Class X stage after the results are released.

Another AIADMK legislator L. Periyasamy said he would soon write to the National Commission for SCs and STs drawing its attention to the ‘insult and disrespect’ he had faced at a temple function on May 6 in Nettapakkam (reserved) constituency that he represents in the Assembly.

“I will lodge a complaint with the National Commission for SCs and STs for appropriate action against police and others for disrespect caused to me,” he said.
