The AIADMK on Thursday allotted to the All India N.R. Congress candidate the Kamaraj Nagar Assembly constituency in Puducherry where a byelection is scheduled on October 21.

On Thursday, the AIADMK announced that it would support the AINRC candidate, following request from the party leader and former Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy.

Mr. Rangasamy met AIADMK coordinator and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and party's coordinator and Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami in this regard on Thursday in Chennai.

Kamaraj Nagar Assembly constituency fell vacant following the resignation of former Chief Minister V. Vaithilingam, who won Puducherry Lok Sabha seat in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
