Former legislator and AIADMK leader Om Sakthi Segar has demanded criminal proceedings against those who faked documents to grab land at Kuyil Thoppu.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he said the government was forced to suspend the Sub-Registrar of Oulgaret who helped four persons register the property despite an order by the Collector to maintain status quo on the land.

Mr. Segar alleged that two of the persons involved in registering the property through illegal means were key functionaries of the Congress party.

The government should explain why the Sub-Registrar was suspended. If the government failed to take action against persons involved in faking documents, he would approach the Central Bureau of Investigation.

The AIADMK leader said he would also write to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs about growing incidents of land grabbing in the Union Territory.

Mr. Segar claimed that he had proof to show that several fake documents were registered in the Union Territory.
