The police arrested two persons for hunting spotted deer in the Edaikal reserve forest near Ulundurpet on Saturday. The team recovered carcasses of two spotted deer, a country-made gun, gun powder, and pellets from the accused.

Police sources said the accused Anthony Pushparaj and Arokiya Stephen of Eraiyur had hunted two spotted deer. On a tip-off, a police team conducted raids in Edaikal and arrested the two. During interrogation, the two confessed to their involvement in the crime. The police handed over the accused and the deer carcasses to the Forest Department.

A search has been launched to nab their accomplices Robert and Das who are reported to be absconding.
