Television sets in about 10 to 15 houses in Soundiyakuppam in Tirupattur were damaged after cable TV wires touched the power lines on Monday. The officials of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation said the cable TV operator had drawn the cables using the electric poles. “The cable TV line touched the electricity lines. This caused the electricity to pass through cable TV lines. Smoke started coming from 10 to 15 television sets in the area,” an official said. The official said the cable TV operator would be asked to lay the cable lines in an appropriate way. — Staff Reporter
