All arrangements have been made for the transportation of Lakshmi, the 27-year-old temple elephant of Manakula Vinayagar Temple which is slated to attend the 48-day rejuvenation camp at Mettupalayam in Coimbatore district.

Priests of the temple performed pooja prior to her transportation. An officer of the Sri Manakula Vinayagar Temple said all permits had been obtained and arrangements made for her safe travel to the camp. Lakshmi will be participating in the camp for the fifth consecutive year.

Her health will be monitored by a team of experts at the camp and she will be supplied with vitamins and other supplements.

Lakshmi was donated to temple as a 10-year-old when R.V. Janakiraman was the Chief Minister of Puducherry. Since then, she has become the darling of devotees who come to the temple.
