93.80% students clear Plus Two in Puducherry

Karaikal records 88.16 pass percentage while it is 88.45 in Cuddalore district

The overall pass percentage in Puducherry and Karaikal regions has gone up by 5.62 percentage points when compared with last year.

According to a press release of the Directorate of School Education, out of 14,694 students who appeared for the examinations, 13,657 cleared it, accounting for an overall pass percentage of 92.94 as against 87.32 last year.

Schools in Puducherry region achieved a pass percentage of 93.80 as against 88.09 last year.

Private schools shine

In Puducherry, 12,455 students — 6,509 girls and 5,946 boys — appeared for the examination. Of this, 11,683 students — 6,231 girls and 5,452 boys — cleared the examination. The pass percentage in government and private schools was 86.03 and 99.05 respectively.

In Karaikal region, 2,239 students — 962 boys and 1,277 girls — appeared for the examination. Of these, 1,974 students — 784 boys and 1,190 girls — cleared it. The pass percentage in Karaikal region was 88.16 against 83.03 last year. As has been the case for several years, girls outperformed boys in overall pass percentage boasting a figure of 95.31 against 90.52 last year while boys secured a pass percentage of 90.27 as against 83.61 last year.

The results show that 34 private schools have registered 100 per cent pass percentage and nine Government schools above 90 per cent.

A total of 74 students scored full marks in Commerce while 38 scored full marks in Mathematics.

Improved results

In government schools, the overall pass percentage has witnessed an increase of 11.86 percentage points when compared with 2017-18. As many as 53 schools in Puducherry and 4 schools in Karaikal scored centum pass.

A total of 74 students scored centum in different subjects.

This includes one student each in Chemistry and Botany, 26 in Computer Science, four in Economics, eight in Commerce and 34 in Accountancy.

Cuddalore

Cuddalore district has registered a pass percentage of 88.45. As many as 30,015 students appeared for the examination. Of these, 26,548 students — 11,942 boys and 14,606 girls — cleared the examination registering a pass percentage of 85.46 and 91.05 respectively.
