More than 2,000 pensioners have been denied pension because of failure to register digital life certificate as stipulated by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).

Vamsi Krishna Dindi, Assistant PF Commissioner (F&G), said the common reasons for the non-registration of the certificate included lack of awareness among first-time pensioners, being unreachable during a particular time and cases such as death of the pensioners.

If the pensioner failed to receive the pension for three months, he or she is entitled to receive the arrears amount in the following month only after the registration of Digital Life Certificate, he said.

Under the requirement, each year the pensioners have to authenticate themselves to avail the pension. They have to get the biometric authentication or the digital life certificate done either in any bank where their pension is disbursed or at the EPFO office.

The registration requires Aadhaar card, bank pass book, mobile number and pension payment order number.
