Seven flying squads formed to prevent malpractice

A total of 14,708 students in Puducherry and Karaikal appeared for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) examination on Friday. Nearly 7,496 boys and 7,212 girls from 242 government and private schools appeared for the first paper on Friday.

Of the 14,708, 11,902 are from Puducherry, and 2,806 are from Karaikal. In Puducherry, 814 examination supervisors and seven five-member flying squads were formed under the supervision of the Chief Education Officer to prevent malpractice. Apart from regular students, 1,144 private candidates appeared for the exam.

The exam which began at 10 a.m. went on till 12.45 p.m.. The examination was conducted in 37 centres in Puducherry. The SSLC examination will conclude on April 20. Students were given 10 minutes to read the question paper before the exam began. Elaborate arrangements were made to ensure basic facilities, including drinking water, at the examination halls.
