10 girls of a home suffer from food poisoning

October 16, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 10:00 am IST - PUDUCHERRY:

In a case of food poisoning, 10 girls from children’s home were admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Kathirkamam, on Wednesday night.

The children from Anbarasi Madhar Sangam, Oulgaret, suffered from fever, vomiting and abdomen pain and are under observation, said hospital sources. All the children are stable and recovering.

While the children are believed to have consumed tea and bun on Wednesday evening at the children’s home, it is unclear what caused the food poisoning. An official of the Department of Social Welfare said the children’s home had claimed it was the mid-day meal at the children’s school which had caused them to fall ill.
