A 34-year-old woman, who had accused actor Karan Oberoi of rape, was allegedly attacked by two men at a park in Andheri at 6.20 a.m. on Saturday.

The victim said in her complaint, “I have been under a lot of stress since I filed the complaint. My doctor had advised me to take a morning walk. On Saturday, I was at the joggers’ park when two men rode past me on a bike. They took a U-turn and stopped next to me. The pillion rider drew a sharp object and attacked me. It may have been a blade.”

She said the pillion rider also threatened to douse her in acid. He then dropped a piece of paper and asked her to check it. The duo sped away when the victim raised an alarm. In her statement, the woman said, “I picked up the paper and saw ‘TAKE THE CASE BACK’ written on it. Hearing my cries, two women came to my help and took me to police personnel at a nakabandi a short distance away. They rushed me to Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon, where I was given first aid. They then took me to the Oshiwara police station.”

Masked attackers

The Oshiwara police noted down the description of the duo and registered a case of assault and criminal intimidation against unidentified persons under the Indian Penal Code.

An officer said, “The victim said that the rider was wearing a helmet and the man who attacked her was wearing a mask. She was not able to note down the bike’s licence plate number. We are checking CCTV footage to trace the movement of the accused.”

Mr. Oberoi was arrested after the victim had registered a case against him earlier this year. He is currently in judicial custody.
