The Wagle Estate police said that the incident took place at 11 a.m. at Sai Anand building in Kajuwadi. The police said Vrushali Gunjkar took her life after an argument with her husband, Pandurang (36), who worked as a driver at Bhabha Atomic Research Center. Senior Police Inspector Ravikant Malekar said, “On Friday morning, Vrushali flew into a rage when she noticed that her two-year-old son had lost one of his shoes while playing with friends. Vrushali’s anger rose when the child asked her to buy him firecrackers. Pandurang tried to calm matters and told their son that he would buy him new shoes and firecrackers.”

Mr. Malekar added, “When Pandurang left the house, Vrushali told their nine-year-old son to go outside and play. When Pandurang returned with his sons, he found the door locked from inside. When he and his neighbours broke down the door, Vrushali was found dead in the living room.” Vrushali was rushed to Jupiter Hospital, but was declared dead before admission. The body has been moved to Thane Civil Hospital for post-mortem. An case of accidental death has been registered.
