A 40-year-old woman was found dead at Sankalp lodge in Sector 11, Juhu gaon, Vashi, on Sunday evening.
According to Sudhakar Pathare, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone I, two Aadhaar cards were found in the room. In both the cards, the photo was of the woman. While in one card, the name was Uma Malvadkar, a resident of Nehru Nagar in Vile Parle, in another, the name was Manda Sukhadare, a resident of Ghansoli.
According to the police, a couple had checked into the lodge around 4 p.m., and around 6.30 p.m., the man who had accompanied her, rushed out. “When the watchman asked the man where he was going and where the woman was, he did not respond and fled. The watchman checked the room and found the woman dead and informed the manager,” police inspector Sanjeev Dhumal from Vashi police station said.
The accused had slit the throat of the woman and left the weapon at the spot, which was recovered. The police said the accused, a resident of Ghansoli, has been identified. Two teams of police have gone to Vile Parle and Ghansoli addresses of the woman to gather details. Prima facie, the police believe it could be a case of relationship gone wrong.
