From Ayushman Bharat Cricket to Swachha Bharat Wrestling and from Make in India Rangoli competition to Ujjwala Dance competition, Maharashtra’s youth will soon be participating in sports competitions and cultural programs organised in their vicinity as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) public outreach campaign.

The State unit of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has organised a 75-day-long ‘CM Chashak’ (CM cup) in all 288 assembly constituencies of the State, with an aim to reach out to at least 50 lakh young voters. A total of 14 types of sports and cultural programs will be organised, named after 14 schemes launched by the State and Central governments led by the BJP. One of the aims cited by the organisers is to promote government schemes among general public, ahead of the elections.

“Our government in Maharashtra will be completing four years on October 31 and January 12 is celebrated as National Youth Day. We will be organising a 75-day series of competitions throughout the State, which will be kicked off in Pune and culminate in Mumbai,” said State BJYM president Yogesh Tilekar.

The 14 competitions include Ayushman Bharat Cricket, Jalyukta Shivar Volleyball, Shetkari Sanman Kabaddi, Saubhagya Kho-Kho, Udan Athletics, Mudra Yojana Chess, Swachha Bharat Wrestling, Kaushalya Bharat Carrom, Ujjwala Dance competition, Jan Dhan One-act Play, Ujala Singing, Indradhanushya Drawing, Make in India Rangoli and Gramjyoti poem reading competition.

The party hopes to send its message across to around three crore citizens. “State and Central government schemes need to be taken to the people. Whenever the competition will be held, the people will automatically be reminded of schemes launched by the government,” said Mr. Tilekar.

The competitions will run from November 1 to December 2 in all 288 constituencies. The winners will then compete at the district level from December 5 to 26. State level finals will be held in Mumbai thereafter. Each participant will get a certificate from the organisers. A total of 8,640 winners will be awarded at the assembly level, 1,080 winners at district level and 30 will be awarded at the State level. The total amount to be spent on awards is estimated to be around ₹1 crore.
