Two booked for heckling Goa Minister

The Margao police on Monday booked two women for insulting the national flag, heckling Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and assaulting his personal security officer at a State-owned hospital on Sunday. Mr. Rane alleged that the women were agents of the Congress party. Chandan Choudhury, Superintendent of Police, South Goa, said, “We are probing the matter. An FIR has been filed by the Minister’s personal security officer, Sharad Chopdekar.”

A case has been registered under Sections 352 (assault), 353 (preventing government servant from discharge of duty), 504 (breach of peace), read along with relevant sections of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1971. Mr. Rane said the women grabbed the national flag affixed on his official car. Mr. Rane quit the Congress in March after the Assembly elections.
