Third organ donation of year saves two lives

January 12, 2019 01:24 am | Updated 01:24 am IST - Mumbai

The family of a 57-year-old businessman from Vile Parle donated his organs on Friday, giving a new lease of life to two critically ill patients. The donor was taken to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital after suffering a brain haemorrhage on January 9.

After the doctor declared him brain-dead, his wife and siblings consented to donate his organs. One of his kidneys and liver was transplanted to patients in the same hospital. The second kidney could not be donated as it was not in a healthy state.

This is the third cadaver organ donation in the city this year.
