Stepson held for killing 65-year-old woman

The Dharavi police on Monday arrested a Govandi resident for allegedly murdering his stepmother. The police said Sushilamma Potraj (65), who lived in Rajiv Gandhi Nagar near ONGC factory in Dharavi, was found dead in her house at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Senior police inspector Suresh Patil said, “The suspects included her stepson who was present when we reached the crime scene. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.” The accused said he visited Potraj at 8 a.m. and got into an argument with her.

Mr. Patil said, “In a fit of rage, he strangled her and slammed her against the wall.” He was produced in court on Monday and has been remanded in police custody till June 10.
