Navi Mumbai: Eleven days after the murder of newly wed Priyanka Gurav (23), the black Santro, used by Durgesh Patwa (25) and Vishal Lalchand Sony (32) to dump her body parts, was recovered in Ambivali on Monday night.

Private parking space

“We recovered the car covered with a plastic cover in a private parking space wherein Mr. Sony had parked in the wee hours of May 5 after dumping all the body parts at various places. The forensic team will check the interiors of the car and collect evidence,” said assistant police inspector Amar Jagdale from Rabale MIDC station.

Investigations have found that Mr. Sony, a close friend of Mr. Patwa, had agreed to help him in dumping the body parts after Mr. Patwa promised ₹50,000 for his car that he had been wanting to sell for a long time.

Weapon not found

Meanwhile, the weapon used in the crime has still not been recovered. “Mr. Patwa told us that he had dumped the weapon within our jurisdiction, but we haven’t found it yet and are searching all possible locations,” said Mr. Jagdale.

Ms. Gurav’s mother-in-law Madhuri (45) and husband Siddhesh (23) had planned to commit suicide after the body parts found in the nullah of Mahape were identified as those of Ms. Gurav. “After the body was identified, we had interrogated the in-laws about when she left the home and which way she went as she had come to the house only a day ago and she was not accustomed to the routes. The family had panicked and were sure that they will get arrested. Hence, the next day, the mother and son decided to end their lives and had gone to the railway tracks at Kopra station, but they could not find the courage,” Mr. Jagdale said. “They do not have any remorse as they claimed that they were tortured by her. They said she used to come and stay at their house in Dombivali before marriage and fight with the family and threatened to put them behind bars if Siddhesh did not marry her. They also claimed of various affairs that she had with other boys.”
