A police boat capsized off Girgaum Chowpatty on Monday night, but all six personnel on board were rescued safely. The incident happened around 8.40 p.m. when a lifeguard posted at Point 5 near Mafatlal Boat Club noticed that a row boat which was transferring six police personnel to the police custom/patrol boat capsized about 300 metres from the shore line.

Duty Lifeguard Pratik Waghe took a rescue boat and reached the spot. He noticed that all six personnel were without life jackets, and were holding onto each other. In the meantime, the custom/patrol boat picked up all six and brought them to the shore, with the lifeguard escorting the boat.

Mumbai Police spokesperson DCP Manjunath Singe confirmed the incident and said it happened close to the shoreline during a routine exercise, and that there had been no risk to anyone.
