Out-of-course questions in B.E. exam

The University of Mumbai on Monday announced that the Bachelor of Engineering information technology Semester 8 paper, would now be assessed for 70 marks after receiving complaints from students about two questions being out of the curriculum.

The university has also issued a communication saying no harm will be done to students’ scores. The students appeared for Storage Network Management and Retrieval on May 14 which was originally an 80-mark exam.

After going through the curriculum, the Board of Studies declared that questions 1 (B) and 4 (A) of the paper were based on topics that were beyond the syllabus. While question 4 (A) was optional, 1 (B) was a compulsory question.

The university declared that question 1 (B) will be excluded, and the paper will be assessed for 70 marks. The score will later be scaled up to 80 marks.
