A five-year-old boy, who had been reported missing for almost a day, was found dead inside a locked car in suburban Ghatkopar on Sunday, police said. He had apparently died due to suffocation, they said.

Rahim Khan, who went missing last evening, was found dead in the car parked near Damodar Park area, police said, adding the child entered the unlocked car while playing and could not come out when its doors locked automatically.

The car is among 18 vehicles confiscated by the Crime Branch in connection with various cases and subsequently parked by roadside near Damodar Park, an official from Ghatkopar police station said.

A case of accidental death has been registered by the Ghatkopar police in this regard.
