DP data available online, but pay Rs. 2,000 to download

June 10, 2016 12:00 am | Updated October 18, 2016 01:07 pm IST - MUMBAI:

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Wednesday made available online the data of the proposed Development Plan 2034, but downloading it, with civic body remarks on each plot and its potential for the next 20 years, will now cost Mumbaikars Rs. 2,000 per city survey number (CTS). However, the online data will not include information on legal encumbrances, if any, existing on individual CTS plots.

Chief engineer (building proposals department) Vinod Chithore told reporters: “The 1991 DP was made available in hard-copy format for a fee of Rs. 300 to Rs. 500 within a fortnight of applying for it. Now, the DP 2034 with remarks will now be available instantly. Citizens can also search for data free of charge, without signing into the website, but they can only view it. For downloading the data, the cost would be Rs. 2,000 per CTS.” Asked, if the fee would be to deter people from downloading, Mr. Chithore said, “Already 99 people have viewed the DP online, with one report with remarks generated. The fee for downloads with civic body remarks of each CTS plot is to ensure data procurement is without any frivolous intentions.”

The official explained: “After logging into the BMC website, upon selecting the ‘Online SRDP 1991 remarks’ option, anyone can get details of individual CTS plots (even multiple CTS plots, using a feature to add more CTS numbers). A report is generated with remarks from the BMC on permissions required for the development of individual plots from the civic administration under the proposed DP (up to 2034).”
