NCP to move court over CIDCO chief

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) will move court against the appointment of Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Prashant Thakur as the chairman of City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) citing a conflict of interest.

NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik on Thursday presented the affidavit filed by Mr. Thakur while contesting the 2014 assembly polls. “In his affidavit, Mr. Thakur had clearly mentioned that Thakur Brothers Infrastructure has contracts worth ₹900 crore with CIDCO and he has shares worth ₹5.5 crore. He has misled the people by saying that he is only an ornamental director of the company,” he said.

Mr. Malik said that Mr. Thakur is eyeing the contract of construction of the Navi Mumbai airport, which is likely to be around ₹3,000 to 4,000 crore. “Devendra Fadnavis’ agenda is to rob CIDCO through his agents and collect money for the elections. Prashant Thakur’s appointment is a part of it,” he said.

The party has said it will wait for a week to see government action on the matter. “We will be moving to the court against this appointment if the decision is not reversed within a week,” he said.
