NC against abusive delivery boy as victim didn’t want FIR

Two days after a Mahim resident alleged misbehaviour by a Swiggy delivery executive, the Mahim police on Wednesday registered only a non-cognisable complaint (NC) as the woman did not wish to file an FIR. The police also denied her allegations of moral policing on part of the on-duty personnel.

The woman had said on social media that a Swiggy delivery executive misbehaved with her when he came to her residence to deliver her order in the early hours of Sunday. She said when she went to file a complaint, the police asked her if she drinks alcohol and if her parents know she smokes.

Senior police inspector Milind Gadankush, Mahim police station, however said the personnel on duty only asked her why she had come so late in the night. “We have registered an NC of intentional insult to provoke breach of peace and criminal intimidation under the Indian Penal Code. The victim herself did not want to file an FIR in the matter,” Mr. Gadankush said.

According to the woman’s social media post, she and her friend had ordered food via Swiggy, which was delivered at 3.30 a.m.

Her post read, “Not only was he abusive right upon arrival, he even went to the lengths of barging in my house and refusing to leave. When my friend raised his voice at the executive because it was 3:30am and we were panicking, the delivery executive went to the lengths of trying to hit both my friend and I. There was some money kept at my bookshelf next to the main door, he ran out of my house with the money in his hand ( I had paid for the order online) and returned 10 minutes later with 4 of his friends who went to threaten us further. Not only has he been incessantly calling us since 4 am, he has been threatening to get his friends to my house to “teach me a lesson.”
