Nair Hospital to inquire into tiff between ENT doctors

A tiff between two women doctors from the ENT department at the civic-run Nair Hospital became a cause for concern, prompting the hospital authorities to summon their parents and counsel the doctors.

The hospital has also initiated an inquiry into this issue, coming as it does in the wake of the Dr. Payal Tadvi suicide.

According to hospital authorities, following the tiff, the junior doctor threatened to complain against the senior doctor for harassment.

This led the senior to panic and she locked herself in a room.

“We summoned both their parents. The doctors were referred for counselling and the senior doctor requested for short leave, which we granted,” said Dr. Ramesh Bharmal, dean of Nair Hospital. It is not a case of ragging, said Dr. Bharmal. After the suicide case of Dr. Payal Tadvi, all the department heads were asked to be vigilant, he said.

The head of the ENT department alerted the ragging committee about the incident.
