The Mumbai-Pune route emerged as the top destination for travellers who used Ola Outstation services for the long weekend from August 14 to 18. Nearly 72% of all outstation bookings from Mumbaikars on the app-based cab aggregator over the long weekend were on this corridor.
Data provided by the company said that after Pune, hill stations such as Lonavala, Khopoli, Matheran, Igatpuri, Karjat, Mahabaleshwar were the major getaway spots for Mumbaikars, contributing to 12% of the bookings. The rest of the bookings were for beach destinations such as Alibaug, Vapi, Boisar and Palghar.
Ola has claimed that over the long weekend, their cabs covered 1.1 crore km across the country, with Delhi leading the way with 74% bookings. The company said 74% of its users in Delhi used Ola Outstation for their spontaneous holiday needs. The percentage in Mumbai stood at 66% and at Bengaluru at 60%.
The Ola Outstation service also allows consumers to book return journeys and schedule trips in advance. Data provided by the company said the longest round trip booked on the app over the weekend was from Delhi to Chandi in Bihar, followed by Pune to Goa.
The company, however, did not disclose absolute ridership figures about the number of people that used the service over the weekend.
“Ola connects over 10,000 routes in India and is second only to the Indian Railways in terms of network and scale. With ‘Ride Now’ requests as well as Scheduled Rides, customers trust Ola equally for their last-minute plans and planned vacations,” said an Ola spokesperson.
