August 31, 2018 01:26 am | Updated 01:26 am IST - NEW DELHI

Mumbai’s international airport will now be known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a proposal from the Civil Aviation Ministry in this regard. In 2016, the Maharashtra Assembly had urged the Centre to change sthe name of the airport. There were also protests earlier this month by Shive Sena leaders demanding that “Maharaj” be added to the name as a mark of respect to the Maratha warrior.
