Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) is likely to resume supplying compressed natural gas (CNG) to all its pumps in the city and suburbs by Sunday.
A spokesperson of the firm said, “MGL has been informed that operations at ONGC Uran are getting progressively normalised. Operation of MGL’s CNG stations and supplies to customers will be normalised with improvement of supplies from ONGC. Full normalcy is expected to be restored by tomorrow.”
Around 6.9 lakh vehicles run on CNG in Mumbai, including 3 lakh private cars, 3.2 lakh autos, 61,000 cabs and 6,100 buses. Operations at Uran were disrupted on Thursday due to a glitch. which led to tripping of processing units.
“All concerned consumers were informed about the supply disruption. All-out revival efforts were undertaken to normalise plant operations. Regular gas supply to MGL @1.5 MMSCMD was resumed today. It is expected that complete operation will be normalised by tonight,” said a statement from ONGC.
MGL is also ensuring that supply to its domestic piped natural gas consumers is maintained on priority without interruption.
