Mumbai: Mayors of eight different cities visited the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) headquarters at Belapur on Saturday to understand the various programmes undertaken by the civic body.
The delegates were taken to various NMMC departments and were given a detailed presentation on the various works carried out by the corporation. Navi Mumbai was recently ranked the eighth cleanest city in the country.
Navi Mumbai Mayor Sudhakar Sonawane said, “It is a matter of great pride for residents that Mayors of other cities are visiting the city to understand the work being done by us. The visitors appreciated the NMMC’s governance, especially the solid waste management disposal system, the sewage treatment plants (STP), and modern machinery.”
Pramod Dubey, the Mayor of Raipur, said, “It was a great learning experience and a pleasure to visit NMMC. The various modules implemented by the corporation are truly commendable.”
Apart from Mr. Dubey, the others who visited the city were Jalandhar Mayor Sunil Jyoti, Gangtok Mayor Shakti Singh, Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Mayor Mamta Gupta, Ludhiana Mayor Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, Mayor M. Swaroop, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Mayor Kishore Rai, Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, Mayor Subhash Sharma, and Gangtok Commissioner Shwang Guycho.
Jaiwant Sutar, leader of the House in NMMC, said, “The delegates were impressed with the NMMC’s iconic structure, massive auditorium, 225-ft. tall national flag, and the ecofriendly system in the headquarters.”
