The Koparkhairane police have arrested a 28-year-old man after his wife accused him of forcing her into unnatural sex.

The victim and accused, both engineers, were colleagues who got married in May, and had been living in a rented house in Sector 19. The 32-year-old woman, who was married to another man earlier, divorced him when she met her current husband.

She registered a case with the Koparkhairane police station on Monday, alleging that her husband had been forcing her into unnatural sex ever since they got married. Assistant police inspector Kavita Sutar said, “The complainant has alleged that her husband would assault her if she refused. On July 22, he abandoned her and left the house with his clothes and other belongings.”

After the case was registered, the victim underwent a medical examination. Her husband was arrested and booked under Sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.
