Two officials from the Navi Mumbai Crime Branch Unit III were injured in Pune while trying to nab an accused.

Assistant Police Inspector Shrikant Shinde, Police Sub Inspector Sunil Sawant and three other personnel arrived in Pune after receiving a tip-off on an absconding accused, Santosh Waghmare, who in 2016 was booked by the Kharghar police under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA). Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Pinjan said, “When Mr. Shinde and Mr. Sawant tried to stop the Swift car driven by Deshmukh, he didn’t stop the car and tried to run over them”

The officials then brought the car to a halt by firing at the tyres. Deshmukh was arrested and a case of attempt to murder was registered against him at Indapur police station in Pune. The Navi Mumbai police will now seek to transfer him in the MCOCA case.
