Sanjay Turde, the lone corporator of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, has written to the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) demanding a probe into the financial dealings of six MNS corporators who recently defected to the Shiv Sena.
In his letter, Mr. Turde, the corporator of Ward 166, alleged that senior corporator Dilip Lande offered him money to join the Sena. Mr. Turde wrote, “He asked me if I wanted to join the Shiv Sena? He told me the other six corporators had decided to shift sides. If I also agreed to switch over, he promised to ensure I would never run out of money.”
Mr. Turde mentions in the letter that when he refused the offer, Mr. Lande warned him against speaking out about the horse-trading. Mr Turde alleged that the Sena had spent large sums of money to win over the six MNS corporators and it was important that the ACB probes the matter.
Bharatiya Janata Party MP Kirit Somaiya has also written to the ACB and the Enforcement Directorate seeking a probe into financial transactions between the Sena and six corporators.
Meanwhile, Sena MLC Anil Parab said that the party has not yet heard from the probe agencies. Mr. Parab said, “If any query comes to us, we are capable of satisfying them since we have not indulged in any wrongdoings.”
