Two days after a half-burnt torso was found in Panvel, the legs of the victim were found on Wednesday. On Monday evening, a dismembered body was found in an open CIDCO plot opposite the Panvel station. The legs were found amid bushes on the ground and an identity card of a security guard with the name Amardeep Singh Pal was lying nearby.

Ashok Dudhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone II, said, “We suspect that the card could belong to the victim or the accused. The card belongs to a firm in Gujarat. The age mentioned on the card is 36 and the body belongs to someone in the 35-40 age group. We are verifying with the firm the validity of the card and identity of the person mentioned.”

Sub-inspector Sunil Tarmale from Panvel City police station said, “Unless someone identifies the body to be that of Pal, it is difficult to confirm. After getting in touch with the firm, we will know if Pal is missing. Then we can ask his relatives to identify him from the remains”. The police are also looking for CCTV footage. The body has been sent to JJ Hospital for postmortem. A case of murder and an attempt to destroy evidence has been registered with the Panvel City police.
