The city civil and sessions court on Thursday rejected the bail plea of one of the two accused in the Kirti Vyas murder case.

Khushi Sahjwani (42), currently in judicial custody, filed a bail plea through advocate Sudeep Pasbola, who had questioned the accuracy of the DNA report presented as evidence, saying it does not match with Vyas’s father.

On July 31, unit II of the Crime Branch filed a 962-page charge sheet before the Esplanade Court. It contains the DNA report of the blood found in the boot of Ms. Sahjwani's car, CCTV footage, call detail records and other evidence gathered over the course of investigation. The footage shows that Vyas was last seen in Ms. Sahjwani’s car.

Vyas (28), an employee of the Bblunt salon went missing on March 16. Her family registered a complaint with the DB Marg police, and the case was then transferred to the Crime Branch. On May 4, the Crime Branch arrested her colleagues Siddesh Tamhankar (28) and Ms. Sahjwani for murder, kidnapping for murder, wrongful restraint, destruction of evidence and other Sections of the Indian Penal Code.
