August 08, 2014 02:57 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:44 pm IST - MUMBAI:

The Thane police probing the case of a software engineer who jumped off a speeding autorickshaw in an alleged kidnapping bid released the sketches of suspects on Wednesday.

On August 1, at around 9.15 p.m., 24-year-old Swapnali Lad, a software engineer with TCS, hailed an autorickshaw from Kapurbawdi junction in Thane. A few minutes into the ride, residents of a housing complex heard the girl scream and later saw her jumping off the speeding vehicle. They rushed her to hospital. The victim sustained serious injuries and slipped into coma.

The sketches were prepared based on the description given by an eyewitness who rushed the victim to hospital. Some men attacked the witness and wanted to know why she helped the victim.

“The three men were on motorbikes and punched the witness in her stomach. They asked her why she helped the victim,” senior police inspector S. S. Kadam said.
