The Mandir and Dharmic Sanstha Mahasangh has demanded that the government come out with a special ordiance for the protection of Hindu temples and their traditions in support of devotees of Sabrimala.
At a press conference on Thursday, Pravin Kanvinde, trustee of Gaud Saraswat Mandir Trust, said, “As part of our agitation, we shall request devotees going to government-controlled temples not to put any donations in offering boxes. Instead we will ask them to drop a note saying ‘abolish government control of temples and protect Hindu tradition.’”
After the decision of the Supreme Court allowing entry to women of all ages to the Sabrimala Temple, thousands of devotees came out on the streets to protect religious tradition and began the ‘Save Sabrimala’ movement. If the Central Government does not come forward, then the Mandir and Dharmic Sanstha Mahasangh has planned a strong agitation via constitutional means.
Mr. Kavinde said that the Sabrimala temple movement is not limited to Kerala alone. “It has become an emotive issue countrywide. As there is an attack on dharmic traditions, we shall use all the State’s temples as a medium to make people aware of this,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sanatan Sanstha is planning to write to the Maharshtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis for the protection of Hindu temples in the State. According to the Sanstha, the BJP government which has been elected by majority of Hindus, should pass a special law to protect their traditions.
Narendra Surve, spokesperson of The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti said, “We demand that the government make laws to protect traditions of the Hindu temples in the State on the same ground as Sabrimala.”
