HC grants CBI time to reply to Peter Mukerjea’s bail plea

The Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) time till May 6 to file its reply to the bail application filed by former television executive and Sheena Bora murder accused Peter Mukerjea. A single-judge Bench of Justice A.S. Gadkari was hearing a petition filed by Mr. Mukerjea on April 26. It has been filed on merit and medical grounds, as he underwent a bypass surgery and has been shifted back to Arthur Road Jail.

Mr. Mukerjea has been charged under Sections 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder), 20b (punishment of criminal conspiracy), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender), 302 (punishment for murder), 307 (attempt to murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
