The condition of the three labourers, who were injured after an under-repair building collapsed in Goregaon on Sunday, improved on Monday. While the two labourers admitted at Siddharth Hospital may be discharged soon, the third has a long road to recovery ahead of him, doctors said.
Three labourers died and eight were injured after the ground-plus-two building collapsed on Sunday morning. Five injured were discharged after first aid. Sinu Vaddi (34) and Munna Shaikh (35) were admitted to Siddharth Hospital, while Manoj Rajavanshi (35) was shifted to R.N. Cooper Hospital for advanced care.
On Monday, Mr. Vaddi and Mr. Shaikh’s condition improved.
“Both are better than yesterday. They are alert and recuperating. We have kept them under observation. We will inspect them tomorrow and take a call on their discharge,” Dr. Nandakumar Wade, medical officer, Siddharth Hospital, said.
Mr. Rajavanshi, who remained critical earlier in the day, was also shifted to the general ward by Monday evening. “He is stable now. We had kept him under observation. Though he is better now, he will not be discharged anytime soon, given his nature of injury,” assistant medical officer, Cooper Hospital, said.
Meanwhile, furious relatives of the deceased refused to claim the bodies until Monday night. “The bodies have been handed over to the post-mortem centre, but the relatives have demanded they get compensation before claiming the bodies,” a hospital source said.
“The bodies have not been taken by the relatives so far. We are hoping to hand them over by tomorrow,” Dr. Kartik Joshi from the post-mortem centre of Siddharth Hospital said.
